So Proud of Elizabeth!!!!

This past week Elizabeth passed her NCIDQ Exam which is a MAJOR accomplishment.
Successful completion of the NCIDQ Examination is required for professional registration in 26 of the U.S. states The NCIDQ Certificate also is required for professional membership in the American Society of Interior Designers.
The test consists of two days of over 300 multiple choice questions and 8.5 hours of drafting covering codes, egress, millwork drawings, construction documents, professional practices, lighting and MUCH more.
Way to go!!!! I knew you would pass!

Countertops: Thinking Outside Granite

In most of our kitchen and bathroom remodels we use granite. However, a few clients have let us go wild and use concrete and glass (which we love). When we select granite we try to select slabs that are uncommon so they are different than the everyday granite you see.

We LOVE these ideas for counter tops!!!! Let us help you in your remodel and introduce a new design element that your neighbors will defiantly not have.

Design & Fashion Go Hand-In-Hand

Oscar de la Renta has recently launched an exclusive collection of fabrics for one of our favorite fabric companies, Lee Jofa. The above pictures of skirts were created by hand, the fabrics are also available for purchase in the new line of fabrics. The skirts and dresses are up for auction to proceed the charity Casa del Nino; started by Oscar de la Renta.
We agree that the fabrics would make BEAUTIFUL draperies. As I often say, draperies can be made to flow like ballgowns, this is such a great example!

We Are Famous!

http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/11/13/796924/treat-your-walls.html#storylink=misearch

This past Saturday Elizabeth and I were featured in the Home & Garden Section regarding the new trends in wallcoverings. (See above link) If you know us, we LOVE the textures, patterns and colors wallcoverings provide. Most everyone views wallcoverings with visions of the 80's, but that is FALSE!!!!!

There are so many options of wallcoverings today- Above are just a few of our favorites:

Rethinking Appliances

As designers we are often asked to think outside of the box. Most of the times, our clients love our suggestions and follow through with the ideas. Even though it may be scary to step out side of your box, give it a try.... we love these above "boxes".
Whether Vintage or Modern we just love different ideas not just the same normal appliances you see in most every ones home.

Of course if you know us, we LOVE color, so we love Summitt's Appliances over 300 colors you can choose from. Wouldn't you like us to design a kitchen for you using these creative designs and colors?

Furball 2010

One of my favorite events which I look forward to throughout the year is Furball.
It is the largest fundraiser for the SPCA of Wake County for the year. THIS YEAR WAS A RECORD BREAKING YEAR!!!!

Angela Pence Interior Designs donates items which are included in the silent auction to help raise money for the animals. Also, Angela was the Decor Co-Chair for the event which is in charge of the DECOR of the event.
Below you can see the finished product:

Above, our client Beth Harris is who we thank for getting us involved in this wonderful cause. Here she is working on the floral arrangements the day before.

This is who we do it for, I could have taken him home with me, but I was told I couldn't!! I was very sad!

Fall Market Favs

There is always SO much to see at Furniture Market, and we have LOTS of fun finds from this year. Here are just 10 of our favorites (in no particular order, except maybe our #1 pick).

#10. Meet Thom Filica. Check. He correctly pronounced his name for us and we praised his awesome new fabrics for Kravet. (this was at the end of the day, can you tell?!)

#9. Pose for new Annie Selke Ad. Don't worry we won't let this hit the magazines, but we just can't resist her use of color in Vanguard's Showroom.

#8. John Richard always pulls out the stops with their glitz and glam.

#7. J.Douglas throws a modern twist on a few bookshelves. From metallic, lacquer, and animal fur they've got you covered...err your books.

#6. Break! We were always prowling for a tasty treat... even in the elevators. We ran into a few friends during Wednesday's pit stop.
L-R: Angela, Vicky Serany (Southern Studio Interior Design), Michael Steiner (Steiner Design Interiors), Elizabeth, Michelle (Michael's Design Assistant), Kaitlin (Vicky's new Intern) and Ms. Betsy!

#5. New Showroom Showoffs. Hickory Chair & Pearson Co. relocated to beautiful new showrooms this Market with equally gorgeous new furniture introductions. Angela in her *favorite* HC chair AND we hung out with Pearson's Prez for at least a good 20mins.

#4. Cool People in LEE. Our clients met us in HP to test drive a few upholstery pieces. Mr. 6'6" has a challenge finding deep seats, so this was the perfect opportunity to try out a few. UnfortunateLEE these chairs didn't quite make the cut.

#3. Well Done Wildwood. These snazzy lamps are a must have. Great colors, interchangeable lamp shades, yes please.

#2. Great Graphics & Details make all the difference. Here are just a few that definitely caught our eye. Sofa by Hickory White, Chair by Stanford and Accent Table by Emerson et Cie.

#1. Lilly Pulitzer Home. Thank you HFI, we've been waiting for you.

just dreamy...
...now I'm going to drive off into the sunset in this Lilly Jeep.

Well we did.

ASID 2010 Fall Conference

The annual Fall Conference for ASID was held in late September in Charlotte at the beautiful Hilton Convention Center. Each year as certified designers we are required to complete Continuing Education Units (CEU'S). The conference was very interesting and it was nice to mingle with many of the top designers in Raleigh. The photo of us all shows some of the most creative minds in the Triangle Area. I have become such good friends with so many of them. Thanks always for a great time!
